📏 How big will an Aussiedoodle get?
Adult size depends almost entirely on which Poodle size was used in the breeding.
Mini Aussiedoodles typically reach 7–14 kg and 30–40 cm at the shoulder. Medium reach 14–25 kg and 40–52 cm. Standard can reach 20–35 kg and 45–60 cm.
⏱️ When do Aussiedoodles stop growing?
Most Aussiedoodles reach full height by 12 months and full weight by 14–16 months.
Mini variants mature faster — typically 10–12 months. Standard variants may not fill out until 18 months. Skeletal growth plates close between 12 and 18 months depending on size.
📊 How accurate is a puppy growth calculator?
With age and current weight, rule-based calculators achieve roughly ±20% accuracy. Parent-weighted models reduce this to ±10–15%.
The most reliable prediction combines current weight at a known age, both parent weights, generation (F1 vs F1B), and sex.
🧬 How does generation affect size?
Generation determines the genetic ratio of Poodle to Australian Shepherd.
F1 (50/50) produces the widest size range. F1B (75% Poodle) skews smaller. F2 and multigen dogs are the hardest to predict.
⚖️ What affects adult weight most?
In order of influence: parent weights, Poodle parent size category, sex, generation, and early-life nutrition.
A puppy cannot outgrow genetics through overfeeding. BCS tracking matters more than weight alone during puppyhood.

Photo Questionnaire
The photo tab uses 5 structured visual questions to infer size category and age range, feeding the same growth curve model as manual entry — with no data upload required.
Growth Curves
Calculations apply published Poodle and Australian Shepherd growth coefficients (Hawthorne et al., 2004; Helmink et al., 2000), weighted by size category and sex.
Parent Weight Model
When parent weights are provided, the tool averages dam and sire weights with a generation-based Poodle bias multiplier, reducing error from ±20% to ±10–12%.
BCS Scoring
Body Condition Scores follow the WSAVA 9-point scale (Laflamme, 1997). Visual BCS is approximate — the gold standard requires rib palpation by a vet.
Confidence Scores
Confidence reflects data quality — available measurements and whether parent data was provided. Higher confidence = more data inputs.
What This Cannot Do
No calculator can weigh a dog, diagnose health conditions, or replace a vet. Predictions do not account for health events, parasites, or early-life malnutrition.

What is the best photo to upload for accurate results? +
A side-on standing photo at body height works best. Full body visible, all four paws flat, natural daylight. The questionnaire will walk you through describing what you see.
My puppy’s weight seems off — why? +
Without a physical scale reading, weight is inferred from your visual description of body condition and size. If you have an actual weigh-in, entering it in the Manual Entry tab will produce much more accurate predictions.
Can I use this for a non-Aussiedoodle? +
The growth curves are calibrated specifically for Aussiedoodles. Using it for other Doodle breeds will still produce a plausible estimate since Poodle growth coefficients dominate, but accuracy will be lower.
What is Body Condition Score and why does it matter? +
BCS is a standardised assessment of whether a dog is at a healthy weight relative to their frame. On the WSAVA 9-point scale, 4–5 is ideal for growing puppies.
When should I stop feeding puppy food? +
Switch to adult formula when your Aussiedoodle reaches approximately 80–90% of their predicted adult weight — typically 10–12 months for minis and 14–16 months for standards. Transition gradually over 7–10 days.
